Kwara Gov’t Donates 7 Boats To Riverine Communities

The Kwara State Government has presented seven modern boats to riverine communities in Edu local government area of the state.

The donation of the commercial and fishing boats was made on behalf of the state government through the Kwara Fadama CARES.

LEADERSHIP reports that the donation of the modern boats is aimed at improving the livelihood of residents and granting them access to smooth transportation within and beyond the three communities in the local government area.

The benefitting communities include Belle, Gbere, Yeluwa, Fanagun, Tada, Kanko and Gidanmodi.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, had on June 26, 2024, performed the flag off ceremony of the fourth disbursement by Kwara Fadama CARES and Kwara State Community and Social development Agency (NGCARES), where farmers received different agricultural inputs and assets, with another category of beneficiaries getting health supporting items.

After the flag-off event, the government had presented boats to coastal communities across Kaiama, Lafiagi, Patigi and Edu local government areas.

Handing over the boats to the benefitting communities, Governor AbdulRazaq said that his administration’s intervention will not exclude any farmer in the state, adding that various interventions to better the lives of farmers will be regularly implemented.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Farmers’ Intervention, Hon. Abdullahi Belle, the Governor added that, “the boats presented to the communities are surely to make the beneficiaries economically fulfill their coastal endeavours.”

The State Coordinator of Kwara Fadama CARES, Engr. Busari Isiaka, said that such initiatives were intended to bring the people closer to the government and remind them of the government’s commitment to actively addressing their plights.
