Kwara State government has held a meeting with stakeholders and heads of vigilante groups in the state on the cluster farming initiative.
The state’s commissioner for agriculture and rural development, Mrs Oloruntoyosi Thomas, said the cluster farming initiative was aimed at achieving food sufficiency in the state and the country.
She said the importance of the meeting was to deliberate on the best model that can be adopted to achieve self-sufficiency in food production in the state.
The commissioner, who described cluster farming as a catalyst for achieving food security and security of lives and properties , stressed the importance of the stakeholders in ensuring proper dissemination of the goal of the initiative to the people.
She emphasised the critical role of the vigilante groups in the project, adding that it has been a proven model in the previous programme in the state and solicited their support for the success of the programme.
