Thaddeus Attah, the Labour Party (LP) representative for the Eti-Osa federal constituency in Lagos, has stirred controversy after posting pictures on his X page wearing a cap embroidered with a symbol associated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Attah, who was declared winner of the February 2023 election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), garnered 24,075 votes to defeat Bankole Wellington of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), popularly known as Banky W, who polled 18,666 votes. Babajide Obanikoro of the APC finished third with 16,901 votes.
Following his victory, Wellington and Obanikoro challenged the election result at the tribunal. In September 2023, the tribunal ordered a supplementary poll in 32 polling units.
However, the appeal court in Lagos overturned the tribunal’s decision in November 2023, affirming Attah as the legitimate winner.
Now, Attah’s recent post has sparked curiosity and speculation among X users, many of whom have questioned his political allegiance.
Prince Saviour posted the image with the caption: “Opposition Otilo ooh, our Lagos Labour Party House of Representatives, Representing Eti OSA Federal Constituency Putting on Tinubu cap. Ire ooh.
“What pains most is the people sacrifices, time, resources, sweat and tears and blood put together to elect these guys voluntarily.”
Another user wrote: “Obidients/Eluuuu-P in Lagos rejected a sound guy like Banky-W because he is PDP, and opted for this Thaddeus Attah, to Represent Eti OSA Federal Constituency.
“Na Oga wear Tinubu cap so. Opposition tilo ni yen. This is purely labouring in vain.”

Donald Dumebi: A New Nigeria is Possible @DumebiDonald wrote, “What do you expect? He just an opportunist like you said. He would play the normal politics to retain his seat, but will still not get the APC ticket & would return to the sympathetic appeal for vote from Obidients. For me my vote from now is candidate base not party.”
