Lagos flood: ‘Area boys’ extorting N100 arrested, to be prosecuted [VIDEO]

Some touts extorting N100 from pedestrians before crossing a makeshift bridge at the Trade Fair area of Lagos State have been arrested.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this via his X page on Wednesday.

Wahab disclosed that those arrested would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

He spoke in response to a complaint by an X user, about the touts extorting pedestrians amid the heavy rainfall in the area.

Posting on X, he wrote: ”Following a complaint made by #ARISE0214, miscreants charging people for using the makeshift crossover bridge at Tradefair this morning have been arrested by the operatives of Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps #LAGESCOfficial.

“They will be prosecuted according to the law.”

DAILY POST had reported that several areas have been affected in Lagos State by the heavy downpour.

The heavy downpour had left several commuters stranded.
