The Lagos State High Court has announced the creation of three additional probate registries in the state.
THE Acting Chief Registrar, Mr. T.A. Elias, said in a statement dated June 1, 2024, but shared on the court’s official X handle on Monday, that the new registries will be located in the Badagry, Epe and Ikorodu judicial divisions.
The establishment of the new registries is pursuant to Section 51(1) of the High Court Law of Lagos State of 2015, the statement added
The registries will handle matters related to letters of administration, grants of probate, lodgment of wills, and other probate-related issues.
Pending applications for letters of administration, grants of probate, lodgment of wills, and other probate matters in the Ikeja and Lagos divisions shall continue to be dealt with in such divisions unless the Honourable Chief Judge otherwise directs in writing.
The statement read, “The general public is hereby informed that the Honourable Chief Judge of Lagos State, Honourable Justice Kazeem Olanrewaju Alogba, has, pursuant to Section 51(1) of the High Court Law of Lagos State 2015, created three additional probate registries in the High Court of Lagos State viz:
“1) Probate Registry in Badagry Judicial Division; 2) Probate Registry in Epe Judicial Division; 3) Probate Registry in Ikorodu Judicial Division
“The processing of letters of administration, grants of probate, lodgment of wills, and other related probate matters shall begin from the date of this notice.
“Pending applications for letters of administration, grants of probate, lodgment of wills, and other probate matters in the Ikeja and Lagos divisions shall continue to be dealt with in such divisions unless the Honourable Chief Judge otherwise directs in writing.”
