Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has provided 1,200 artisans and tradesmen with modern tools and equipment, marking a significant step in their professional development.

The beneficiaries, drawn from 60 traders’ associations, were celebrated during the 12th graduation ceremony of the Lagos State Skill Acquisition Centres.

In a further effort to enhance the prospects of the newly trained artisans, the initiative is being supported by the JAMA JAMA App.

The platform, launched on October 30, 2024, introduced the “Artisans Network,” a dedicated section that offers free registration for graduates of the Skill Acquisition Centres.

Through this platform, artisans will be able to showcase their skills, connect with potential clients, and access additional training resources to further develop their craft.

A statement read in part, “This network provides artisans with tools to manage their businesses, such as scheduling, invoicing, and client management. The collaboration between the Lagos State government and JAMA JAMA embodies the strength of public-private partnerships, blending government support with innovative digital solutions to achieve shared goals.

“The platform gives these skilled professionals a direct sales channel, enhances their visibility, and helps build their reputation, creating a dynamic and supportive community for local craftsmanship.”

They further said the collaboration aligns seamlessly with the governor’s T.H.E.M.E.S. agenda, which emphasises social inclusion, youth empowerment, and equal economic opportunities for all Lagosians.

It stated that the state government recently did a follow-up inspection at the Eko Job Center in Ikorodu . This served to reinforce the government’s commitment to these training initiatives.

This partnership between JAMAJAMA and the Lagos State government marks a new era of economic empowerment and skill development for Lagos artisans.
