Barcelona football star, Lamine Yamal‘s father, Mounir Nasraoui, was reportedly stabbed in a car park near the city of Barcelona, Spain.

The incident took place in the town of Mataro on Wednesday evening, August 14, leaving Nasraoui in a serious condition requiring immediate medical attention.

After the incident, Nasraoui was transported to Can Ruti Hospital in Badalona, where he is currently stable and under observation, according to Spanish publication, La Vanguardia.

The motive behind the attack is not entirely clear, and an investigation is underway. Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the assault.

Lamine Yamal briefly reacted to the incident on Wednesday night by posting a picture of himself and his father on his Instagram story which he deleted minutes later.

Mounir Nasraoui is said to be Yamal’s biggest fan as he influenced the 17-year-old winger’s development in football.

Recall that Yamal became a more established international football superstar when he helped Spain win the 2024 European Championship in Germany.

He ended the competition as the youngest player ever to score an international goal and won the competition’s best young player award.

Lamine Yamal is expected to be in action when FC Barcelona open their Spanish La Liga campaign against Valencia at Mestalla on Saturday, August 17.
