Rising Nigerian artiste Nancy Akwuobi, known by her stage name Adao, has revealed that her latest single, Dark Fantasy, is deeply inspired by her journey through personal tragedy and healing. Drawing from her own life experiences, Adao describes the song as a reflection of her path to self-discovery and spirituality, particularly following the loss of her mother to cancer in 2014.

She added that her mother was the one who first introduced her to music.

“Dark Fantasy is my channel of expressing how much healing I have had to undergo as a person through my personal life journey,” she shared.

The song encapsulates the artiste’s reflections on the deep bond she shared with her mother and her personal exploration into spirituality, nature, and herbalism.

“Dark Fantasy isn’t just a song; it’s a universe. I wanted to create something that not only sounds beautiful but feels like a deep, intimate conversation – one that pulls people into the spaces between dreams and reality,” Adao expressed.

With a fusion of African and European musical elements, the song showcases Adao’s dedication to quality, blending haunting melodies and mesmerising beats. Through the song, she also aims to remind listeners that Nigerian musical talent continues to thrive. “Through this record, people would also get to acknowledge that talent has not died in Nigeria,” she remarked.
