Fisayo Dele-Bashiru

Serie A club Lazio are closing in on deal to sign Super Eagles and Hatayspor midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

This was revealed by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

According to the Italian journalist, the deal is reported to be €7m fee and is left now is medical and final steps.

He added that Hatayspor have given the green light for Dele-Bashiru to join the Rome-based club.

Dele-Bashiru played a key role as Hatayspor escaped relegation to the Turkish second division last season.

The 23-year-old was on target for Hatayspor who defeated Rizespor 2-0 on the final day in the Turkish Super Lig to escape relegation.

Hatayspor ended the season in 15th place on 41 points, just one point above relegation on the log.

He scored eight goals, made five assists in 36 appearances in the Turkish top-flight for Hatayspor.

In the Turkish Cup, he played in three games and got one goal and one assist.

He scored his first goal for Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the 1-1 draw against South Africa in Group C, matchday 3 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Uyo.

Unfortunately, he had to go off after suffering an injury which ruled hom out of the game against Cheetahs of Benin Republic in Abidjan Côte d’Ivoire which the Eagles lost 2-1.

After playing for the Manchester City youth team, whom he joined at the age of eight, Dele-Bashiru moved to Sheffield Wednesday in July 2020.

He made his senior debut on 5 September 2020, in the EFL Cup, starting the game away to Walsall and would make his first league appearance against Bristol City coming off the bench.

In February 2021 he suffered an ankle injury after coming off the bench against Brentford, and it was expected that he would be out-of-action for four-to-six weeks.

He broke into the first team again during his second season, and in October 2021 he won the club’s Player of the Month award,as well as scoring his first senior goal in a game against Cambridge United.

In September 2022, he was nominated for the EFL Cup Player of the Second Round, following a goal and assist against Rochdale, which he subsequently won.
