Lazio Coach Speaks On Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s Mental Toughness

Lazio manager Marco Baroni has emphasized the importance of mental toughness for midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru as he adapts to the demands of Serie A.

After transferring from Turkish club Hatayaspor during the summer window, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has found it challenging to settle into life in Italy, both on and off the pitch.

This season, the Nigerian international has managed to score just once across all competitions for Lazio, raising concerns about his integration into the team’s style of play. Baroni is optimistic about Dele-Bashiru’s potential and firmly believes he possesses the skill set required to thrive at the club.

However, the manager pointed out that achieving greater mental consistency is crucial for the midfielder’s growth.

“Dele is a strong player who will surely explode in the right conditions,” Baroni remarked during a recent press conference. “He needs to develop greater mental continuity. Coming from a different football environment, it’s no easy task to match the speed of thought and play in Serie A.”

Baroni’s comments reflect both his confidence in Dele-Bashiru’s abilities and the pressures of a league where immediate results are often demanded.

Meanwhile, Baroni has also noted that in addition to Dele-Bashiru, another player, Tchaouna, also requires time to grow and adapt.

“They are young talents who need space to develop,” he added. “Unfortunately, we don’t have the luxury of time, and I prefer not to dwell on that aspect.”
