Leverkusen Manager Xavi Alonso Names His Premier League Title Contenders

Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xavi Alonso shared his thoughts on the Premier League title race, expressing his belief that Arsenal and Liverpool will be strong contenders against Manchester City.

Following his team’s 4-1 loss to Arsenal in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday night, Xavi Alonso highlighted Arsenal’s potential, emphasizing that Mikel Arteta’s leadership and the club’s ongoing project make them a formidable force in the upcoming Premier League season.

Alonso who led Bayer Leverkusen to win the German Bundesliga without losing a game last season, also acknowledged City’s strength and suggested that Liverpool, along with other clubs, would also pose a challenge in the title race.

This perspective comes after Arsenal’s close pursuit of the league title in the last two seasons and their recent additions to the squad, setting the stage for an intriguing competition in the Premier League.

When asked to name his most likely Premier League title contender, Xavi Alonso said: “Arsenal, for sure, it’s not just last year; they have been creating a project; Mikel is leading a great team at a great club.

“They are going to be challenging with the big ones for sure.

“City will be there; Liverpool is coming with other ones as well.”

Note that the 2024-2025 English Premier League season is scheduled to commence on August 16, 2024.
