4 months ago 6

A former presidential aspirant under the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the 2023 elections, Dr Cesnabmililo Nuhu Aken’Ova, has praised the recent Supreme Court judgement on local government financial autonomy.

Aken’Ova considered the ruling as a significant milestone towards promoting grassroots development and democratic restructuring in Nigeria.

Aken’Ova urged Nigerians to exercise patience with the administration of President Bola Tinubu and observe how the benefits of this ruling will positively impact the local government level.

The former presidential aspirant stated this during a reception organised in her honour when she received a Honorary Doctor of Laws Award from Gold Mind Resource Seminary at the Salvation Teaching Centre in Abuja.

Speaking further, Aken’Ova called on the Nigerian government to avoid taking its citizens for granted.

She advocated for the implementation of enhanced security measures to ensure sustainable development in the country.

Aken’Ova also encouraged Nigerian youths to support President Tinubu in achieving the Renewed Hope Agenda, rather than participating in planned nationwide protests organised by some youth groups.

The Bishop of Salvation Teaching Centre and Senate President of Gold Mind Resource Seminary, Dr. Samso Shangyibwa, urged the awardees, also known as Ambassadors of Christ, to continue their dedicated service to God and humanity.

He noted that the current harsh condition in the country cannot be solely attributed to one individual, adding that protests alone cannot bring about miracles.

He remains hopeful for Nigeria’s future and calls on government officials and leaders at all levels to be mindful of their responsibilities and prioritize the needs of the citizens.”
