The Director of Publicity of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bala Ibrahim, has said members of the Labour Party are defecting to the ruling party to learn how the game of politics is played.
Bala Ibrahim stated that the acquisition of power is central in politics and for every politician. He noted that APC has provided a platform for politicians to join and achieve their political goals.
He stated this on Sunday in an interview with News Central. He emphasized that the APC government has been doing everything to give Nigerians dividends of democracy.
“The position of power is very central in politics. Whoever is in politics has gone there with an ambition. The ambition is to grab or gain power so as to the programmes he has or the party has with in view to changing the lives of the people.
“So the APC as a party is in power at the moment in the center. It is doing everything to change the narrative and make people have good dividends of democracy.
“In the struggle for these other political parties, the Labour Party inclusive are crossing over to the APC for a number of reasons. One is to learn the ropes of the game, two is to see how they can be able to achieve their mission or ambition through the policies and programmes of the party, because their own party may not be giving them the desired platform and avenue,” he said.
Ibrahim explained that the mission of APC is to deliver good governance, quality education, address unemployment and provide a good life for Nigerians.
When asked if the party had delivered its mission to Nigerians since it took over from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015, the APC chieftains said it was too early to make a valid judgment on his party’s performance.
“The APC is a progressive party. It is anchored on the ambition of progress. It is anchored on the motion of giving good dividends to the people. It is anchored on giving people good health, good facilities, good education, employment and changing the narratives of life generally.
“The APC has been in power for ten years now, close to, eight years of Buhari plus close to two years of Tinubu. When you juxtapose that with two years of misrule of PDP, you see that it is too early to make any valid judgment,” he added.
