Luka Modric Extends His Contract With Real Madrid, Alvaro Morata Joins AC Milan

Spanish La Liga giants, Real Madrid have extended the contract of their veteran midfielder, Luka Modric, for one more season.

This means that Luka Modric will remain at Real Madrid until June 30, 2025. Before then, he would have turned 39 years old.

Before the Croatia international decided to prolong his stay at the Santiago Bernabéu, there were reports that Saudi Pro League side, Al Qadsiah and some clubs in the Major League Soccer were making efforts to sign him. He, however, decided to play for Real Madrid for one more season.

A statement on the club’s website reads: “Real Madrid CF and Luka Modric have agreed to extend the contract of our captain, who remains tied to the club until June 30, 2025.

“Modric joined Real Madrid in 2012, and in his twelve seasons defending our shirt he has become a legend of Real Madrid and world football.”

Note that since 2012, Luka Modric has scored 39 goals and provided 86 assists in 534 appearances for Real Madrid. The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner has won four La Liga, two Copa del Rey and six Champions League trophies for the Spanish giants.

Meanwhile, Spain’s national team captain, Álvaro Morata has left Atletico Madrid for AC Milan. He has signed a contract with the Italian side which will keep him at San Siro until June 30, 2028, with an option for a year extension.
