He retired from international football in 2016, two years after lifting the World Cup with Germany.

Lukas Podolski's kebab empire

According to Football London, Podolski's kebab chain, Mangal Doner, is worth £180 million.

Before his first kebab shop began operations in 2018, he opened a dessert company called Ice Cream United in 2017. Furthermore, his interests include festivals, football tournaments, and his clothing store, Street Kicker.

The report adds that he opened his first kebab shop in Cologne, where his football career started, and now has 30 branches across Germany.

In 2018, DW asked him how he arrived at the idea of opening a kebab restaurant.

"Ideas just come — I don't even really have a business plan right now.""You eat doner kebabs when you're young, when you're still playing and when you've finished playing – it's a perfect solution," he said via Bundesliga.
