A 39-year-old man, Shua’ibu Nafiu, on Thursday appeared before a Kano Sharia Court over an alleged breach of trust, cheating and mischief.
Nafiu, who lives at Dorayi Quarters in Kano, is facing a three-count charge of criminal breach of trust, cheating, and mischief.
The prosecutor, Abdullahi Wada, told the court that the complainant, Muhammed Bello, who resides at Dandishe Quarters, reported the matter at Fagge Police Station, Kano, on August 28.
Wada said Bello gave the defendant 15 pieces of lace textile materials worth N900,000 to sell for him and send the money to his account.
He alleged that the complainant later asked for his money, but the defendant only sent N400,000 out of N900,000.
The prosecutor further told the court that when the complainant asked the defendant for the remaining money, the defendant refused to send the remaining money.
He said that the efforts to get the money from the defendant proved abortive.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 202 and 206 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded guilty to the charge.
The Judge, Malam Umar Lawal-Abubakar, admitted him to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one reliable surety, who must be a blood relation.
He adjourned the case until September 23 for summary trial.
