Erik ten Hag will walk into the new season having received the stamp of approval from the new minority owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The club have been busy in the transfer market, bringing in at least four first-team players.

The Dutch tactician will, however, be presented with similar challenges as last season, with a number of his players ruled out with injury. Rasmus Hojlund, Luke Shaw and Lenny Yoro are expected to miss the first few weeks of the campaign.

Manchester United fans in Uganda pray ahead of new season

In a video shared online by BigEyeUG, Manchester United fans gathered in Iganga, East Uganda, for what appeared to be a prayer session.

Clad in the club's jerseys, the fans listened to tunes belted by a band. One member of the band pointed to the sky as he hit the drum. The video has since gone viral, eliciting mixed reactions.

@Mulumba_Hamada said,

"Ugandans, you will never see them supporting Busoga FC but busy wasting time on Manchester United."

@Solmon_Starboss wanted the fans to focus their energies on different things after recent protests in Uganda.

"These people can’t march to parliament but can gather for useless things; this country is a big joke."

While @bradley256 said,

"Oh God, the rest of the world has seen the video. This is going to be a long season for us United Ugandan fans."

The Red Devils will be hoping to better their eighth-place finish of last season. They still qualified for Europe after beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

Ten Hag blasted for pre-season loss

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Manchester United's 2024/25 season began on a disappointing note with a defeat to Rosenborg, and manager Erik ten Hag has been bashed by the club’s fans for the defeat.

The Dutch manager, who featured five first-team regulars from last season, lost by a last-minute goal by Noah Holm.

Though it was only a friendly match, the result drew significant criticism from both Ten Hag and the fans, particularly since the Premier League team conceded more than 20 shots during the game.
