Manchester City midfielder, Rodri is expected to miss the remainder of the 2024-2025 season according to reports.

Recall that Rodri, 28, had to be substituted during their match with Arsenal on Sunday, September 22, due to a knee injury, and initial tests indicate a torn ACL in his right knee.

Further tests are pending, but Rodri will likely need surgery in Barcelona, which could see him sidelined for more than eight months, according to ESPN.

Rodri’s absence at Manchester City will undoubtedly be felt by the team, given his significant impact on the field, a display which has earned him a Ballon d’Or nomination.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola expressed uncertainty about the extent of Rodri’s injury but praised his strength and importance to his team.

Despite this setback, Guardiola remains optimistic about the team’s ability to adapt and perform well in upcoming matches.

When asked about Rodri’s injury after Man City’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Sunday, Guardiola said: “I don’t know yet, I didn’t ask the doctors. Rodri is strong. He leaves the pitch in this action because he feels something. Otherwise, Rodri stays there.

“He’s the best holding midfielder in the world; he is a potential Ballon d’Or winner; I would love for him to win.

“But it happened in the first minutes. These games with Arsenal are like that and we have to handle it. We did it. We did really good things.”
