Manchester United Confirms Manuel Ugarte’s Signing

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of 23-year-old Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Paris St-Germain.

Manuel Ugarte have signed a five-year contract with the option to extend it for a further 12 months.

The initial fee for the transfer is reported to be £42.1 million, with an additional £8.4 million potentially payable based on performance-related clauses. This brings United’s total spending in the summer transfer window to just over £190 million.

Ugarte, who made 37 appearances for PSG last season, has been lauded for his contributions both at the club and international level.

His arrival at United is seen as a significant boost to the midfield, with the club’s Sporting Director Dan Ashworth highlighting Ugarte’s exceptional ball-winning abilities.

The Sporting Director said on Friday, August 30: “Signing Manuel was another of our primary targets for this summer.

“He is among the very best ball-winning midfield players in the world and has an excellent record at both club and international level. His qualities, experience and passion will be a great complement to our strong group of midfielders.”

In a statement following the transfer, Ugarte expressed his excitement at joining a club of Manchester United’s stature.

“It is an incredible feeling to join a club of this magnitude; one that is admired all around the world,” Ugarte said on Friday.

“Manchester United is an ambitious club and I am an ambitious player. I know how incredible United fans are and I cannot wait to experience Old Trafford.
