Manchester United are investigating the source of a recent leak of the club’s matchday squad ahead of their clash with Manchester City on Sunday, December 15.
Just before their impressive 2-1 victory against Manchester City, an unofficial team sheet suggested that Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho would not be included in the matchday squad.
This information became public shortly before Ruben Amorim released his official lineup.
According to reports from The Sun, Amorim has reached out to both Garnacho and Amad Diallo for their input on the matter, seeking clarity on the situation.
However, club insiders maintain that Garnacho’s exclusion from the match was unrelated to any allegations regarding his brother’s involvement in leaking team details.
Following the match at The Etihad, Amorim addressed the concerns, stating, “I’m aware of the situation. Unfortunately, it’s challenging to control because there are many individuals within the club, and players often communicate with their agents and friends. It’s not ideal, but we need to focus on moving forward and preparing for the next match to finalize our starting XI.”
Meanwhile, a Manchester City fan lost his life due to a medical incident during the Premier League match against Manchester United.
The club released a heartfelt statement on Monday, expressing their condolences: “Manchester City is aware of the heartbreaking news that one of our supporters passed away following a medical incident at yesterday’s match. Our thoughts are with the family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.”
During the match, City initially took the lead with a goal from Josko Gvardiol in the first half. However, Manchester United scored late goals thanks to Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo, ultimately securing all three points at The Etihad Stadium.
