A white man was seen distributing loaves of bread to hundreds of Lagos residents, highlighting the widespread hunger many are facing amidst Nigeria’s cost-of-living crisis.
In a viral video, the man, who remained unidentified, handed out the bread to those patiently waiting in line at 48, Asa-Afariogun Street in Ajao Estate, Lagos.
The act of generosity was well-received, with the beneficiaries forming an orderly queue to collect the bread.
According to Peoples Gazette, a recipient named Mary disclosed that the man had earlier distributed Bibles to interested individuals before offering the loaves, which were purchased from a bakery in the same area.
Each loaf was reportedly worth N1,200, although the bakery did not disclose the total number of loaves bought. However, they confirmed that hundreds of Lagosians benefited from the gesture.
The lines stretched as far as 30 meters, showing the large number of people who had gathered in hopes of receiving the free bread.
Despite the man also offering Bibles, recipients were not required to take one to receive the bread, ensuring that everyone who came could benefit from his generosity without discrimination.
