Master’s degree in Music makes me better artiste — Deemoe

Gaiya Moses, better known as Deemoe, a rapper based in the United Kingdom, has said that earning a Master’s degree in music has made him a better artiste.

He told Sunday Scoop, “Deciding to pursue a Master’s degree in Music felt like I was giving myself a Grammy Award. I was excited when I got admitted into the university to study music. The journey was not an easy one, but getting to study what I love and being among a community of likeminded was all the consolation I needed. This is the type of exposure every artiste needs, and that is why I strongly feel more universities in Nigeria should have music departments from undergraduate level up until PhD level.  I have had the opportunity to network effortlessly with professionals and know more about the music business.”

Asked about his next project, the rapper said, “My next project, just like my previous ones, is very special. It is predominantly rap music; both old and new school. One of my goals is to collaborate with as many artistes as possible, especially the ones I feel can add value to the project. A lot of things will be different about this project, and one thing is certain— I am going to make a statement with it.”
