Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, on Monday, approved the release of N1,912,187,753.82 to settle the long-standing leave allowances owed to public primary school teachers.

A statement by the governor’s media office said that the payment covers a period of four years and is a fulfilment of his promise to prioritise teachers’ welfare and productivity.

According to the statement, the move was also aimed at supporting the state’s 260 smart green school policy which seeks to provide quality education.

Our correspondent reports that this development comes after the governor’s earlier approval of the N30,000 minimum wage for primary school teachers and local government workers, demonstrating his commitment to enhancing the well-being of educators in the state.
