French football star Kylian Mbappe’s X account was hacked early Thursday, leading to a series of controversial tweets that quickly caught the internet’s attention.
A series of posts appeared on Mbappe’s X account, including jabs at Lionel Messi, Chelsea Football Club, and Manchester United fans.
One of the post teased a potential transfer to Manchester United in 2028, after Mbappe praised a Man United fan account, #UTDTrey, as the “best account on ft.”
In another tweet, Mbappe took a dig at Chelsea, saying, “Chelsea are washed, g,” in response to a claim that he was a fan of the club.
The hacker also stoked the long-standing rivalry between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, posting, “Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest football player of all time. This midget is not my goat,” accompanied by a photo of Messi crying during a match against Colombia.
In addition to football-related tweets, the hacker posted inflammatory comments like “F*** Israel,” “Free Palestine,” “Manchester is red,” and “The Jews own football,” sparking outrage and confusion among fans.
Reactions poured in from X users, with some expressing disbelief at the tweets, recognizing them as the work of a hacker.
One user, #UTDLenz, wrote, “So the hacker is basically a Man United and Ronaldo fan, pro-Palestine and doesn’t give a d*** about London. I think I’ve liked him even more. “The Jews own football” I think I need more context about that.”
One user, #Big_5ve, tweeted, “People with knowledge literally know Mbappe will never tweet something like this.”
A user, #fana__0, wrote, “Whoever has hacked Kylian Mbappe should be crowned king of the world.”
One user, #haiwe_xtm, commented, “Seriously hacked account. There’s no way that’s Mbappe bro,” while another, #GucciStarboi, urged people not to be misled, insisting that Mbappe had clearly been hacked. “Stop misleading people. Mbappe was clearly hacked.”
Many fans wondered how such an incident could happen, questioning the effectiveness of Mbappe’s media team. User #RackiRMA wrote, “This is getting out of hand. What is his media team doing?”
Meanwhile, #keyyrun0 who found humor in the situation, wrote, “#Loool. I’ve been having a laugh watching this in real time. Surprised Mbappe doesn’t have someone around the clock for stuff like this. Poor guy is probably sound asleep right now not knowing what’s going on.”
Mbappe, who recently joined Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain, has been making headlines on the pitch as well.
He scored in Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Atlanta in the UEFA Super Cup, though he has yet to find the back of the net in La Liga, with a 1-1 draw against Mallorca and a 3-0 win over Valladolid.
The tweets from the hacked account have since been removed, but the incident has left fans buzzing about the audacity of the hacker and the potential security vulnerabilities in the accounts of high-profile athletes.
