The reinstated paramount ruler of Etung local government area of Cross River State, Dr. Emmanuel Oru-Ojong, has appealed to Governor Bassey Otu to intervene in the ordeal of Ayade’s former special adviser on cocoa development and control, Dr. Oscar Ofuka, who is allegedly being held by officials of state government despite his ill-health.
The monarch made the appeal while reacting to the alleged detention of Dr Ofuka by officials of the state government in Calabar yesterday.
Representing the monarch, the chairman, Crises Management Committee of Mbume Blocks of Clan comprising Abia, Bendeghe Ekiem and Etomi communities in Etung local government area of Cross River State, Ntufam Odu Ndep, stated that Ofuka cannot be held hostage for offenses he did not commit.
The monarch said Ofuka’s travail had been masterminded by political opponents who want him down, and urged the governor to set up a commission of inquiry to investigate the allegations against him.
