Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a woman, Dorcas Asije and four others for allegedly assaulting a Vice Principal of a secondary school in Ondo State.
Alexander Rotifa, the Vice Principal of Complete Child Development Centre, Awule, Akure, was a few days ago brutally beaten by thugs allegedly hired by Asije, mother of a student of the school over the failure to allow her son, Wisdom Elisha to cheat in the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE.
Hell was said to have let loose after the student’s mother confronted Rotifa for confiscating her son’s android phone while in the examination hall.
Confirming the arrest of the suspects, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed that the suspects were apprehended following the orders of the Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi.
Ayanlade further stressed that case had been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
“Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) led a tactical team to ensure their swift arrest. The case has been transferred to SCID and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.”
Meanwhile, the state government had earlier vowed to take action over the development, stating that arrangements for the safety of the staff and students of the school for the period of the remaining papers in WASSCE had being made.
