Pop culture and entertainment brand, MTV Base, has pledged to support the Africa Creative Market, a gathering of industry professionals, artists, and music enthusiasts, with its ‘Music Day’.

MTV Base noted in a release that it would bring its Music Day to the ACM, which would be held on Friday in Lagos.

It also said it would hold panel discussions and activities focusing on advancing African music’s global reach, as part of its sponsorship of the ACM.

The entertainment brand stated that the panel discussions would feature topics discussing strategies for pushing African artists to the international stage, innovative music production techniques, and navigating the rapidly evolving music industry.

According to MTV Base, one of the panel discussions entitled: ‘Beyond Borders: Building Global Audiences for African Music’ will feature experts who will share strategies to help African artists break through international barriers.

“Panelists will offer invaluable insights on leveraging social media, forming strategic global partnerships, and utilising digital platforms to elevate African music worldwide,” the firm added.

It remarked that a second panel on ‘The Art of Sampling: How It Works and When Does It Become Theft?’ would discuss music sampling and explore its legal and creative aspects while addressing the fine line between musical inspiration and copyright infringement.

Senior Channels Manager at Paramount Africa, Busola Komolafe, said MTV Base was committed to shaping the future of African music through insightful dialogue and strategic expertise, especially through the ACM.

“The ACM is the perfect platform to address the challenges and seize the opportunities that will drive African music’s global influence,” Komolafe remarked.

The ACM Communications Director, Yetty Ogunnubi, added that MTV Base’s involvement in Music Day was a tremendous boost to the industry gathering, as the discussions will guide artists and industry professionals looking to expand their global reach.
