My Administration Committed To Reviving Moribund Industries –Alia

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has emphasised that his administration is committed to reviving moribund industries, from agro-processing plants to manufacturing facilities, across the state.

The governor, who disclosed this during the launch of Zeva Premium Lager Beer produced by the Benue Investment and Property Company, (BIPC) described the venture as an economic strategy to boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state and as well create thousands of direct and indirect jobs for the teeming unemployed population of the state.

While commending the managing director of Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC), Dr Raymond Asemakaha and the staff for their relentless efforts, dedication, and commitment that brought the historical moment, the governor warned under 18 against the consumption of the product.
He said, “We are equally focused on establishing new industries that align with global trends and market demands.

“Our approach is holistic and strategic. As such, we are creating a business-friendly environment for investors, building roads, power facilities, and other infrastructure to support industrial growth, and helping our youth acquire the skills needed to thrive in an industrial economy.

“Let me assure you that the Benue State government will continue to support the BIPC in achieving its mandate. We are committed to providing the necessary resources, policies, and infrastructure to ensure the sustained growth of this company and its contributions to the state’s economy.”

He said, “ BIPC remains a pivotal vehicle for achieving our vision of an industrialised Benue. My administration has strengthened the BIPC, repositioning it as a dynamic and innovative institution capable of driving industrialisation.

In a welcome address to the MD BIPB, Dr Asemakaha commended the governor and the management team of the Centre for Food Technology and Research (CEFTER) Benue State University Makurdi, led by the Director Prof. Barnabas Ikyo, for their overwhelming support. He said the unveiling of the Zeva premium beer will contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of the state in several ways.

According to him, “the brewing process relies heavily on raw materials such as sorghum, cassava, millet and maise, among others, all of which are abundant in Benue. This backward integration will create a sustainable market for our farmers, ensuring consistent income and reducing post-harvest losses.

“As we launch the Zeva Premium Lager beer, I assure the Benue people that this is just the beginning. BIPC is committed to driving initiatives that will uplift our people, create wealth, and foster development. From agriculture to real estate, manufacturing to commerce, we will continue to identify and invest in opportunities that will transform the socio-economic landscape of our state.

“Today, we celebrate not just the launch of a beverage but a renewed commitment to the economic transformation and empowerment of Benue State.

“We are introducing a product that will directly contribute to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the State and Nigeria. The beer industry is proven to be the driver of economic growth. With Zeva Premium Lager, we are poised to stimulate manufacturing, distribution, and retail activities, thereby increasing our state’s overall economic output.”

He said, “The ripple effect of this venture will be felt across various sectors. From the agricultural sector to transportation, hospitality, and retail, Zeva Premium Lager Beer will energise economic activities, creating value chains that will touch every corner of our state.”
