Some Niger Delta stakeholders in the Federal Capital Territory have passed a vote of confidence on the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Dr Samuel Ogbuku.

The stakeholders under the aegis of Niger Delta, Ijaws in Gloryland Court, Abuja, said Ogbuku is doing a good job and should be allowed to complete his tenure to deliver on the various projects and programmes being undertaken by the current NDDC leadership.

The vote of confidence was contained in a statement issued on behalf of the group by Emmanuel Agori and made available to South-South PUNCH correspondent.

Agori, who is also the founder of Divine Youth for Peace of Niger Delta, further said that Dr Ogbuku has performed within a short time in office compared with his predecessors.

Agori stated, “There is hardly any part of the nine states in the Niger Delta today that you won’t feel the presence of the NDDC since Ogbuku assumed office as MD.

“Many communities in the Niger Delta today have solar light systems, various training programmes from the Holistic Opportunities Programme of Engagement, known as ‘HOPE Project’ to the Youths Internship Scheme, which includes financial support for the youths during the training.

“Also the NDDC has commissioned the 132KV Transmission Line and I32KV/33KV electricity substation at Okitipupa to serve over 2,000 communities in the southern part of Ondo State.

“Similarly, the commission has inaugurated another 1×15 MVA 33/11 KVA injection substation in Amufi, Edo State, among others.

“We, the Niger Delta, Ijaws in Gloryland Court, Abuja, therefore pass a vote of confidence on Dr Samuel Ogbuku as under his leadership of the NDDC as MD he has impacted positively on the region.

“He should not only be allowed to continue the good works he is doing, he should be allowed to complete his two-term tenure slot given to Bayelsa State where he hails from.”

Agori, thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the confidence reposed in Dr Ogbuku to warrant his re-appointment, assuring that the latter will not disappoint him.
