The Northwest Governors Forum is set to hold a two-day peace and security summit in Katsina State with President Bola Tinubu scheduled to be event’s keynote speaker.

It will be the first time President Tinubu would be visiting the state since the 2023 elections. He is expected to perform three functions, in addition to being keynote speaker.

The president will commission an ultra-modern 16-bed dialysis centre initiated by Governor Dikko Radda at the General Amadi Rimi Specialist Hospital, Batagarawa Local Council.

He would also perform ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a multi-billion naira Katsina eastern bypass that spans from Dutsinma Road to Kano Road, passing through Daura Road, ending at Yandaki village in Kaita Local Council.

The event, holding on Monday and Tuesday, June 24 and 25 respectively, is a collaboration between the forum and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The theme of the event is ‘Regional Cooperation for Securing Lives and Livelihood in North West Nigeria’.

Most of the states in the region are faced with security challenges brought about by activities of terrorists, rustlers, kidnappers and related criminality.

Host governor, Dr Dikko Radda, is expected to welcome his counterparts from Kaduna, Zamfara, Kano, Jigawa, Kebbi, and Sokoto states- Dauda Lawal, Abba Yusuf, Umar Namadi, Nasir Idris, and Ahmed Aliyu, respectively
