The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO) has commended one of its employees, Auwal Dankode, for his exemplary honesty after he found and returned $10,000 while cleaning an aircraft in Kano.

According to an official statement released on Saturday, Dankode, a native of Kano, was recognized at the company’s headquarters at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. This recognition was for his outstanding transparency and integrity.

Dankode, who was on duty with his colleagues cleaning an Egypt Air MS 878 flight at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport last Wednesday, discovered the cash left behind by a passenger in seat No 25H.

He immediately handed the money over to the airline’s Station Manager.

NAHCO’s Group Managing Director and CEO, Indranil Gupta, praised Dankode for embodying the core values of the company and announced several rewards for his honesty.

These included a substantial cash reward, an instant promotion, and an appointment as the NAHCO Brand Ambassador.

During the ceremony, Gupta said, “We are truly proud of the exemplary character exhibited by Auwal. He is a true NAHCO ambassador and an embodiment of what NAHCO stands for, honesty, integrity, diligence and hard work.

“We celebrate your being and we want this to be just the beginning. Let the values which your family has instilled, guide you and groom you into ideal leader, which everyone will be proud of.

“We urge you to continue working the same way with very high integrity, diligence and continue being a good NAHCO ambassador.

Additional NAHCO executives also lauded Dankode’s actions. The Chief Financial Officer, Adeoye Emiloju, emphasized that such integrity cannot be feigned, while the Chief Operating Officer, Didier Steullet, encouraged Dankode to continue on his honorable path.

As NAHCO’s newly appointed Brand Ambassador, Dankode will attend all major events organized by the company nationwide, help promote the brand, and have opportunities to travel and engage with senior officials and stakeholders.
