Controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been released from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos, Nigeria. Bobrisky, who was sentenced to six months in prison by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos in April 2024 for naira abuse, was freed on Monday, August 5, 2024, after completing his sentence.
Bobrisky came out of the facility stylishly in a black jeep decked in a black jersey with blue jeans. He had on a full face of makeup and well-done hair.
In an interview with GoldMyneTV after his release, Bobrisky said, “Follow the rules, abide by the law. Don’t spray money, unless you’ll be a landlord inside Kirikiri.” He added, “It’s not just about killing or any criminal activity, something light like this can take you there. I’m only focusing on my friends who were there for me, and I’m grateful. I’m not thinking about any other person.”
On April 12, 2024, Bobrisky was imprisoned for abusing the naira. During the court hearing, he told the judge, “My Lord, I wish that you could give me a second chance to use my platform to inform and educate my followers about spraying money. I would do a video on my page to educate people about spraying money and I will not repeat this, My Lord. I regret my actions, My Lord.”
The judge who sentenced Bobrisky without an option of a fine stated that his sentence was meant to serve as a lesson for others abusing the Nigerian currency. Bobrisky’s jail term began on March 24, 2024, the same day he was arrested.

Born Idris Okuneye, Bobrisky is a Nigerian social media influencer and cross-dresser. After his arrest, he was examined and pronounced as a male. Contrary to how he has asked fans to refer to him as a female.
Finally, he is one of the most popular and controversial social media personality in Nigeria, with millions of followers on Instagram.
