Man United have made a poor start to the season domestically and in Europe. After nine games, they sit 14th in the Premier League with just three wins.

They've also not won a game in Europe, and Amorim will be tasked with making an instant impact at Old Trafford.

Nani backs Amorim to succeed at Man United

Nani played for Estrela da Amadora against Amorim's Sporting on Friday, but they suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat with Viktor Gyokeres scored four times.

The two shared a brief moment on the pitch. Nani, who spent eight years at Old Trafford, believes he can do well in England.

"All I can say is good luck,” Nani told Sport TV via The Mirror. “He has done an excellent job at Sporting, and I hope he can do the same at United, which is a great club, one of the best clubs in the world."“I think he is in a great place. He will have the chance with excellent players to deliver a strong response, as he has all the conditions to do so.”

Amorim has coached Sporting since 2020 and won two Primeira Liga titles. Fans will hope the 39-year-old can lead them to their first league title since 2013.

Guardiola welcomes Amorim

Pep Guardiola has praised Ruben Amorim following his appointment, calling him a top-level coach, as Legit.ng reported earlier.

Guardiola's Manchester City have faced Amorim's team a few times and will meet again on Tuesday in the Champions League.
