The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has applauded the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) for demonstrating an unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and operational resilience.

Reacting to the 2023 Audited Financial Statement recently released by the national oil company, NANS President, Lucky Emonefe, praised the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of NNPCL, Mele Kyari, for his exemplary leadership and dedication to advancing Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

According to Emonefe, the company’s remarkable asset growth of 322 per cent to N246.8 trillion is a strong testament to Kyari’s “visionary leadership and strategic foresight.”

In a statement made available to The Guardian, on Sunday, and signed by the NANS President, he said these impressive financial results underscore the firm’s “steady progress towards realising its long-term goals, solidifying its position as a leader in the oil industry.”

The NANS President, however, appealed to Nigerians to give President Bola Tinubu’s administration time and space to implement its policies and deliver on its promises, asking for their cooperation and patience during this period.

“We commend Mele Kyari, along with the board and management of NNPC Limited, for their exceptional leadership, which has instilled hope and confidence in Nigeria’s economic future. We are confident that their dedication and expertise will continue to drive Nigeria’s economic progress and growth.

“While we celebrate NNPCL’s achievements, we also urge Nigerians to exercise patience and understanding with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as it tackles the complexities of economic recovery and growth.

The removal of fuel subsidies, though challenging, is a necessary step towards economic sustainability and growth. This bold decision will redirect resources into critical sectors, drive economic diversification, and create opportunities for all Nigerians,” he stated.
