National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), led by Lucky Emonefe, has lauded President Bola Tinubu‘s effort to reconstitute tertiary institutions‘ governing councils.
A statement by the association‘s national president described the development as a clear demonstration of the President Tinubu administration‘s commitment to reinvigorating the glory of Nigerian education.
He said the move would help address the myriad problems bedevilling academic institutions and improve the well-being of the academic system in Nigeria.
He said, “The newly appointed members are astute educationists and administrators with proven track record in their career.
“Their appointment could be ascribed as the ‘best decision’ taken by President Tinubu to holistically bring sustainable development in the academic institutions, the welfare of students and lecturers, and ensure access to quality education for students.”
While congratulating the newly reconstituted governing council, Lucky urged them to run an open-door policy and engage student organisations to fast-track the successful implementation of programmes to facilitate sustainable development in the sector.
