Napoli Approve Victor Osimhen’s Season-long Loan

2 weeks ago 3

Italian Serie A club Napoli have reportedly approved Victor Osimhen’s season-long loan after a very turbulent last three weeks between the two parties.

Recall that Victor Osimhen submitted a transfer request to Napoli ahead of this summer. Osimhen had the assurance that one of the big clubs in Europe would come for him even though the contract he signed with Napoli in December came with a €130 million release clause.

As he expected, big clubs like Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea, and Arsenal came for his signature but they were unwilling to pay Napoli’s asking price and Osimhen’s wages.

Chelsea and Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli pressed on for Osimhen’s signature until the last day of the 2024 summer transfer window on August 30. However, the two clubs failed to agree on the monetary aspect of the deal.

Afterwards, Napoli kicked Victor Osimhen out of the squad and reportedly relegated him to the under-23 squad. This means that if the 25-year-old striker doesn’t leave the side this summer, he might not play professional club football again until probably in the January transfer window if he can secure another club.

To avoid paying Osimhen over €250,000 per week without doing anything, Napoli started negotiating a loan deal with Turkish side Galatasaray, whose transfer window closes on September 13.

Earlier this afternoon, September 2, Sky Sports confirmed that “Napoli have given the green light for Victor Osimhen’s loan move to Galatasaray until the end of the season.”

As it stands, it is left for the 25-year-old Nigeria international to accept the loan proposal or remain on the sideline until January.
