NAPS Lauds Policy On Pharmaceutical Technology

1 month ago 3

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has condemned and rejected the court interference in the ongoing issue of HND Pharmaceutical Technology in polytechnics, describing it as a ploy by individuals with personal interests.

Comrade Rilwan Opeyemi Munirudeen, NAPS national president, who read the text of the briefing, said that the association had played a crucial role in resolving the issue, which involved consultations with various stakeholders, including heads of affected institutions, NBTE, the Ministry of Education, and PCN.

He emphasised that NAPS would not compromise on standards or jeopardize the future of its students.

The NAPS leadership reaffirmed their support for the resolution reached by the Ministry of Education, National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and Pharmaceutical Council Of Nigeria (PCN), which allowed current students to graduate but discontinued the HND programme in favour of the ND programme in Pharmacy Technician. Munirudeen accused those dragging the case to court of being enemies of polytechnic students and urged them to drop the case.

NAPS vowed to resist any attempt to continue HND Pharmaceutical Technology in polytechnics, as ruled by NBTE, and called for respect for PCN’s mandate as the regulatory body for pharmacists in Nigeria while emphasizing its commitment to protecting the interests of polytechnic students and ensuring they receive quality education.
