Nasarawa Assembly Speaker Locks Out Staff For Resuming Late, Warns Against Indiscipline

The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, on Wednesday, took decisive action by locking out staff members who failed to arrive at work on time.

Naija News reports that the move was in response to employees not adhering to the official work hours.

Expressing his displeasure at what he termed a lax attitude towards work, the Speaker emphasized that under his leadership, the assembly would not tolerate indiscipline.

Addressing reporters after inspecting staff attendance and punctuality, Jatau made it clear that promptness and responsibility were non-negotiable.

Having arrived at the office by 8:30 a.m., the Speaker expressed disappointment at the number of staff who had not reported to work, stressing that such behavior would not be allowed to jeopardize the functioning of the legislative body.

While commending Governor Abdullahi Sule for his efforts in improving workers’ welfare, Jatau noted that the assembly under his leadership would continue to prioritize staff well-being.

However, he made it clear that discipline and punctuality would remain essential expectations

His Excellency is doing well and doing his best to improve the welfare of workers.

“And the assembly under my watch will continue to prioritize the welfare of staff of the House but I will not condone indiscipline.

“I have instructed the Staff Officer to discipline any staff that is not punctual and is not doing his duties as expected,” he said.

He further instructed the Staff Officer to take necessary actions against employees who failed to meet their responsibilities, reiterating his commitment to enhancing staff welfare, provided they fulfilled their duties.
