The Nasarawa State Police Command says it has arrested two “one-chance” armed robbers disturbing the peace of residents in the Karu Local Government Area of the state.

This was contained in a press statement in Lafia on Wednesday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel.

According to him, the suspects who engaged in stealing items from unsuspecting members of the public were apprehended following painstaking efforts by officers of the command.

The suspects

The PPRO said, “On August 13, 2024, at about 2030hrs, information was received that suspected armed robbers riding in a Toyota Corolla 1994 model with Reg. No. Benue MKD 77 TF picked up an unsuspecting passenger from New Nyanya en route to Area 1, Abuja, but robbed the passenger of her handbag, iPhone and other valuables and threw their victim out of the moving vehicle.

“Upon receipt of the information, police operatives attached to the New Karu Area Command in collaboration with public-spirited individuals gave the criminals a hot chase and intercepted their vehicle.

“Consequently, the duo of John Iorfa 29 years and James Agbo, 37 years, all of Makurdi, Benue State were arrested and items earlier robbed from the victim were recovered.”

Nansel added that the suspects had made useful statements while efforts were ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate.
