National Theatre management holds workshop

A theatre arts practitioner and project management specialist, Lessi Patrick, has said that the end goal of project management is profit-making.

Patrick noted this at a workshop organised by the National Theater Management at AllianceFrancaise, Mike Adenuga Centre in Ikoyi, Lagos, recently.

She said, “Each time you want to start a project, which is supposed to be something that has a start and an end, you want to ensure that whether it’s a product that you’re giving out or a process you’re trying to put in placr, the bottom line is success.

“Whatever success means to you, you must ensure that you are maximising profit, and not running at a loss.”

Expatiating on the place of passion, the guest speaker said it was one thing to love one’s craft and have a passion for it, and it was another thing to also understand

Encouraging uniqueness, the speaker stated that anything that stands out is easily noticed. “It is important to think outside the box.

“You need to ask yourself certain questions on how you can get better in order to grow. If you do something different and fresh, you would be better positioned to attract attention and success.”

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Theatre, Tola Akerele, had said the training was part of a ‘new National Theatre’ in collaboration with production companies to give out the tools the industry needs.
