2 weeks ago 23

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has issued a strong warning to the public about fraudulent activities involving the recently closed NDDC Youth Internship Scheme.

According to a statement by the Commission’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Seledi Thompson-Wakama, scammers have been sending unsolicited messages to individuals claiming they have been selected for the internship program and requesting personal information and an acceptance fee.

Thompson-Wakama clarified that the NDDC does not charge fees for placing qualified youths in its programs.“We wish to state unequivocally that the NDDC is not behind this purported selection process, which is a scam,” the statement read.

The Commission urged the public to disregard and report such messages to the appropriate authorities.
The NDDC further advised that all official communications would only come through its verified website and social media platforms.

Beneficiaries of the Commission’s empowerment programmes can cross-check information through the official website and other authenticated channels.

The Commission emphasised its commitment to safeguarding the safety and privacy of the public. For any legitimate inquiries regarding its empowerment programs, individuals are advised to contact the NDDC through official means.

This caution follows the closure of the registration process for the NDDC Youth Internship Scheme on August 31, 2024.
