Afriwood comic is set to inspire young readers with the themes of strength and bravery, and enduring spirit in its new comic series titled, ‘Urenna Amadi: The Incredible Shutter-Bird’.
The first five chapters of the series is set to be released in September, and will be followed by a hard copy release in November.
The series introduces Shutter-Bird— a young heroine, Urenna— who harnesses her extraordinary powers to uplift her community. Through imaginative storytelling and vibrant illustrations, Urenna’s journey highlights her courage and self-acceptance as she faces challenges without succumbing to societal judgments.
In a statement sent to Sunday Scoop, Afriwood Comics stated that it aims to transform the comic book landscape by highlighting diverse African stories that celebrate the strengths within African culture.
The comic features a distinctive illustration style and colour palette that not only captivates the mind but also soothes the spirit and improves focus. This approach seeks to alleviate anxiety and deepen the reader’s connection to the narrative.
