The Kaduna State Police Command has announced the arrival of its new Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, who officially assumed office this week.

Rabiu, the 45th Commissioner of Police to serve in Kaduna, succeeds Ibrahim Abdullahi, recently promoted to Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, Rabiu was described as a seasoned officer with extensive experience and a reputation for professionalism.

“Born on July 16, 1969, in Ketare District, Kankara LGA, Katsina State, CP Rabiu joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1994 and has held numerous strategic positions throughout his career,” Hassan stated.

His service record includes commanding roles as Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Kubwa, Durumi, Gwagwalada, and Life Camp within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Rabiu has also served as Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC Ops) in Taraba State, Police Component Commander of Operation Delta Safe in Yenagoa, and held leadership posts in critical tactical units such as: Commander, 5 PMF, Benin; Commander, 22 PMF, Lagos; Commander, SPU Base 6, Port Harcourt; Deputy Commander, Operation Safe Haven, Jos; and DC Operations, Ondo State Police Command.

Rabiu’s appointment comes with high expectations, as the command expressed confidence in his ability to steer the state towards enhanced security and community engagement.

“We are confident that CP Rabiu’s extensive experience and unwavering dedication to service will bolster security, foster public trust, and promote peace across Kaduna State,” the statement read.

A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, CP Rabiu holds a Master’s degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. He has received numerous commendations for gallantry and professionalism, with expertise in operational leadership, intelligence-driven crime strategies, and strengthening police-community relations.

The Kaduna Police Command assured the public that under Rabiu’s leadership, efforts to combat crime and ensure the safety of residents will remain a top priority.
