A singer, Olusegun Olufowobi, aka Whytepatch, has said that his new song titled, O Ma Sele, was born out of his love for Nigeria.
He told Sunday Scoop, “The inspiration comes from my love for Nigeria, and the hope I have for its future. I wanted to create a piece that reflects the collective struggles we face, while also serving as a heartfelt prayer for healing and unity. I believe music has the power to bring people together, and with this song, I aim to inspire resilience and optimism in the face of adversity. My hope is that it encourages listeners to hold on to hope, and to believe in a brighter tomorrow for our country.”
On why the message of the song is important for Nigerians, the singer stated, “It is crucial for Nigerians to listen to this kind of songs at a time like this, because we are at a pivotal moment in our country’s history. Music has always been a powerful tool for reflection and connection, especially during tough times. By engaging with songs that carry deep messages, we can find solace and strength in shared experiences. Listening to music with meaningful lyrics can inspire hope and provide comfort, reminding us that we are not alone in our struggles. It encourages us to reflect on our resilience and the importance of unity as we navigate through hardships. At a time when many are feeling disheartened, I believe that this song can serve as a source of encouragement, and a reminder of the beauty and strength inherent in our culture.”
