NFF Appoints Fitness Trainer From Slovenia For Super Eagles As 7 Players Hit Uyo

A fitness trainer from Slovenia, Tomaz Zorec, has been enlisted to assist caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen in preparing the Super Eagles players for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) revealed the complete caretaker technical crew lineup for Super Eagles on Monday, which includes Rangers’ coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu and Remo Stars’ coach, Daniel Ogunmodede as the assistant coaches to head coach Eguavoen.

Additionally, the NFF announced that Abiodun Baruwa will continue his role as the goalkeeper trainer, and Eboboritse Uwejamomere will provide analysis as the match analyst.

As the Super Eagles intensify their preparations for the AFCON qualifiers, seven players have already arrived at the team’s camp in Uyo.

Among the early arrivals are Captain William Troost-Ekong, Ademola Lookman, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Ola Aina. Joining them on Monday morning were Olisa Ndah, Semi Ajayi, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

Note that Caretaker Head Coach Augustine Eguaoen has called up 23 players for these crucial games.

The Super Eagles will kick off the qualifiers by hosting Benin Republic in Uyo at 5 p.m. on Saturday before embarking on a journey to Kigali to face Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium on Tuesday. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 pm Rwanda time (2 pm Nigeria time).
