Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has resumed after a one-month leave and expressed appreciation to Deputy Governor Comrade Yakubu Garba and other stakeholders for steering the ship of leadership in the state while he was away.

In a statement by the chief press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the governor expressed appreciation and gratitude to all state citizens for their continued understanding of his administration.

He lauded the deputy governor “For the active, passionate and resilient manner by which he steered the ship of leadership as the acting governor.”

Governor Bago further applauded members of the State Executive Council, the leadership, the legislature, the judiciary, traditional and religious leaders, and the heads of security agencies in the state for their overwhelming support and contributions.

He said the leave period has afforded him the opportunity to reflect and evaluate the impact of his administration’s policies and programmes with the view to improving them for better service delivery to the people.

He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people diligently and with more vigour to achieve the New Niger Agenda.

He also commended the media organisations and all practicing journalists in the State for their role in promoting the growth and development of Niger State.

It will be recalled that last month, the governor embarked on one month’s leave after the State Assembly approved his request to transmit the powers of his office to the deputy governor to act as the governor.
