Niger is expecting over 100 exhibitors, at this year’s Nutritious food fairs to be hosted by the state, as part of efforts to boost its Mechanised Agricultural revolution programme.
The event is organised by HarvestPlus, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the Federal Ministry of Health, the Niger State Government, and the Office of the First Lady of Niger State,
The state Commissioner of Agriculture Bawa Salihu Bosso disclosed that 5,000 attendees are expected at the fair aimed at promoting Nutrition.
He said the highlights will include panel discussions, business networking opportunities, a school quiz (NutriQuiz), a cooking competition (NutriKitchen), job clinics, the Smart Mother Initiative, entertainment, and hands-on training.
He said “the fair is a platform for collective engagement, youth job creation, business connections, and new partnerships in the nutritious food sector”.
While urging the people to make this year’s Nutritious Food Fair eventful , he said it was a place where one can see, learn, and participate in creating a healthier future for all.
He said Kaduna hosted the last edition while this year’s fair, with the theme “Sustainable Food Systems: Our Collective Responsibility,” would be the 10th edition and will take place at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Center in Minna December 10th and 11th this year.
He reiterated that the Nutritious Food Fair is closely aligned with the Niger State Government’s mission to foster a vibrant, sustainable agricultural sector hence the state is committed to providing the supportive environment needed to attract investments in nutritious foods, for a healthy life.
He said the 10th edition of the Food Fair promises to bring together a diverse group of participants ranging from policymakers to researchers, farmers, and food processors and offered a valuable opportunity to showcase innovations, exchange knowledge, and address the latest developments in nutritious foods.
