Also returned unopposed were the vice chairman Uriah Gana, secretary Mohammed Usman Chiji, assistant secretary Abubakar Adamu Kuta, treasurer, Habiba Etsu, financial secretary Zakeri Musa Lambata and auditor Abdullahi Ndanusa.
The special guest of honour at the triennial delegate conference, chairman of Veteran Journalists Niger State and immediate past minister of state Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Zubair Dada, called for integrity in the practice of journalism.
He said purposeful journalism must serve the community’s interest, recalling how journalism with integrity has made some of them go far amid the general notion that journalism has no second-hand value.
Ambassador Dada said the best way to have second-hand value in journalism is to practice with integrity and not to sacrifice integrity in the face of immediate financial gains.
He lauded the leadership of Abu Nmodu for bringing integrity, transparency and accountability to the union, which earned the team a second term unopposed, urging the new executives to increase the tempo and not to relent.
Meanwhile, Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has congratulated the chairman, Comrade Nmodu and other officials on their reelection to pilot the affairs of the union for the next three years.
In a message through his chief press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the governor said the reelection of Comrade Nmodu and other officials depicts an exceptional teamwork and collective vision of the executive members for continued growth and development of the union.
He observed that the union had experienced unprecedented progress and development in the first tenure of the Comrade Nmodu-led administration and enjoined the new executive to redouble its efforts to consolidate the gains.
