Nigeria Ready To Work With Trump – Federal Gov’t

The federal government has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the United States President-elect, Donald Trump, as he prepares to assume office as the 47th President of the United States.

Addressing State House correspondents yesterday following the postponed Federal Executive Council meeting, minister of Information Mohammed Idris emphasised that Nigeria respects the wishes of all sovereign nations.

The minister highlighted Nigeria’s eagerness to foster a “strong and more beneficial relationship” with the U.S. under the Trump administration.

“It is their internal wish Nigeria respects a lot,” he stated. “As the President has said in the statement that has been issued, we look forward to a greater working relationship with the 47th president of the United States, Donald Trump. We hope the best out of the relationship between Nigeria and the United States will come to the fore.”

The minister also reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to democracy.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu wishes him well and also believes that democracy again is at work. We will, as always, identify with the wishes and aspirations of every sovereign nation.

We respect what has happened and do hope we are going to have a very good working relationship with the next President of the United States of America,” he added.
