The number of metered electricity customers in Nigeria increased to 6,053.479 million in July 2024.

This is according to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission July’s Factsheet.

The figure represents a 60,127 increase in electricity customers in July compared to the 5,993,340 million recorded in June.

This is as NERC showed that total electricity customers stood at 13,296,829 million in July 2024.

Consequently, unmetered electricity customers stood at 7,243,332 million in the period under review.

A further analysis showed that the number of electricity customers without meters outweighed those with meters.

The development comes as the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu on Tuesday announced that the Federal and State governments have raised N100 billion to close the metering gap in Nigeria.
